1/10 oz : Discovery 1998 Gold Maple Leaf Prototype

  • tested and x-rayed to be 24k
this is my 1/10 5 dollar gold maple coin with several errors on the front and back

uncovered in march of 2026 from a private 28-year storage (cigar box). this specimen has been held by the original finder since 1998. It has never been "shopped," or handled by the traditional numismatic trade until this digital reveal.

    About Me

the first and obvious “error” is the dot after the II .
the second is the die/frag in the original RCM flip

on the reverse there’s another dot inside the “O” in or, if i can spot these “errors” using a dollar store mag, why would a lcs claim to not see them with a loupe?!

side note : there’s that 1mm piece of die

the original flip has those scuff marks on it, not the coin

LOOK in between the “UR” in pur another dot connecting them and also touching the rim

    & there’s that curved piece of die/frag

this 1mm piece of die/frag isn't gold but silvery with a burnt tip

from the obverse side, that 1mm piece of die/frag isn’t gold, it’s silvery & curved (lettering maybe) w/a burnt tip

it’s immobile in it’s own cocoon, it cant scratch the coin

note : the hairline from the “D” to the “O” in dollar
